Key Ingredient Redesign Concept

In 2016, I was given the challenge to redesign the website without any restrictions. Below are the varying page designs that I created. I feel that these designs created a fresh perspective on the way users can navigate the site, and allowed flexibility so we can curate the content in an appealing manner.

Something I would love to implement on Key Ingredient is large imagery and graphics. When searching for recipes and food inspiration, photos play a huge part in that experience.

This is the full view of the homepage redesign concept. The top section would be a home for anything we wanted to promote. From articles to recipes, these places would be versatile. These spots could also be sold as promotional spots or be turned into ads.

The next section features articles and products, providing small snippets of what is in the article. This creates a glimpse into what content we have on the site, and gives us the opportunity to promote the articles or products that we want to draw attention to.

The bottom section displays a mixture of content the user can browse through. From recipes, restaurants, events, articles, and products, a user can enjoy exploring what we have to offer.

One concept we had for the future of Key Ingredient is to create an experience that was all about food. One element of that experience was to have a section about restaurants, providing all the information someone would need when deciding where to grab dinner and drinks.

This is the full page design for a restaurant page. Our goal was to provide relevant information for the user. Many of us have spent time on the internet or on Yelp digging through restaurants, trying to find that one place that stands out. To help a user decide on a place to eat, we decided to include a glimpse of the menu, reviews, photos, and a map of their location. If the place offers reservations, we would link to that page or service to make it a simple process.

Another element of this concept was to integrate our former cookware commerce site, KitchenSnap, into Key Ingredient. This would allow us to be a one-stop-shop for everything a user would need to cook at home, from recipes to shopping for cookware and kitchen tools.

Similar to the restaurant page, we want to help users make the best decision. With the product page, we wanted to provide all the relevant information that a user would need in a clean and easy to navigate experience.
